Volkswagen has unveiled the all-new ID Polo, transforming its long-running and globally successful hatchback into a fully electric model.
Now in its seventh generation, the Polo nameplate has sold over 20 million units worldwide. The new electric version retains its compact dimensions but benefits from improved space and practicality thanks to its dedicated EV architecture.
Built on the brand’s latest MEB+ platform, the ID Polo features a front-wheel-drive layout and a more spacious interior compared to conventional petrol-powered models.

It be offered with multiple power outputs, ranging from 85 kW to 155 kW, with a more powerful GTI variant expected later.
Battery options include a 37 kWh pack with a claimed range of up to 329 km, and a larger 52 kWh unit capable of delivering up to 454 km on a single charge. DC fast charging is supported across all variants.

Volkswagen has equipped the ID Polo with a suite of modern technologies, including one-pedal driving, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, and advanced driver assistance systems like Connected Travel Assist with traffic light recognition.
The interior blends digital displays with physical controls, and offers premium features such as a Harman Kardon sound system and massage seats.

For Nepal, this development holds particular relevance. The Polo has historically been the best-selling model for Volkswagen in the country. If introduced locally, the ID Polo could become Volkswagen’s first fully electric vehicle in Nepal, as the brand currently does not offer any EVs in this market.

Although a local launch has not been confirmed, the ID Polo highlights Volkswagen’s broader push toward electrification—and it could be a strong contender if brought to Nepal’s rapidly growing EV segment.
